Our Mission
What is our mission?
Our mission is to help Bay Area farmers reduce waste and capitalize on opportunities to increase profits, while also assisting low-income families to access affordable fresh produce. We are also bridging the gap between local farmers and families by creating stronger community ties between these two groups. We are reducing food waste that comes from Farmers Markets and reducing the local carbon footprint. Most importantly, we are providing healthy and balanced food for our customers.
Why does this matter to us?
We want to give back to our community! We saw an opportunity to help both farmers and low-income families, and we took advantage of that opportunity. We are also involved in a Youth Climate Ambassador program, and as ambassadors, we believe that this platform can take steps to promote sustainability and combat issues that affect our environment such as greenhouse gas emissions.
Our customers so far:
We are working with a variety of different farms that sell at markets in Palo Alto, Santa Clara, and Mountain View. We visit these locations every Sunday to work with our partners, buy some of their surplus, and make new connections with other farms. Our customers include many low-income families but also families that simply enjoy inexpensive, fresh, and often organic, produce!
